School-seminar for young scientists and specialists led by Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences A.I. Leontief is held once every two years, starting in 1977. The school-seminar brings together young researchers and leading scientists working in the field of heat and mass transfer, and provides an opportunity for open discussion and evaluation of the results.

The Scientific and Organizational Committees invite students, graduate students, young scientists and specialists under the age of 35 to take part in the 23rd School-Seminar "Problems of Gas Dynamics and Heat and Mass Transfer in Power Plants", which will be held from May 24 to May 28, 2021 on the basis of Institute of Thermophysics, Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Yekaterinburg.

Themes of the XXIII School-seminar

1) Heat and mass transfer during forced, free and mixed convection without and taking into account chemical transformations under conditions of laminar and turbulent flows;

2) Heat and mass transfer in a multiphase environment, including:
- vapor-liquid flows,
- gas and / or liquid flows without and with the presence of particles of another phase,
- boiling in a large volume,
- porous structures;

3) Radiation and complex heat transfer;

4) Related tasks;

5) Methods of thermodynamic analysis of heat and mass transfer problems;

6) Metastable states and fluctuation phenomena.

7) Transfer problems in biomedical systems.

These topics are planned to be discussed in relation to installations for various purposes: gas and steam-gas turbines, hydrogen energy, fuel cells, high-temperature steam generators, gas turbine engines, internal combustion engines, rocket engines, space equipment, nuclear power, small power. In addition, fundamental questions of phase metastability will be considered; molecular dynamics modeling; fluctuation phenomena and heat transfer during phase transformations; surface phenomena; thermophysical properties. Special attention will be paid to the issues of environmental safety and modeling of biomedical processes. Both fundamental works in the field of gas dynamics and heat and mass transfer, as well as works of applied importance, are welcome.

PLENARY LECTURES

It is planned to hear the following lectures at the opening:

Breakthrough technologies in the energy sector for the next 10 years. Alekseenko S.V. (Institute of Thermophysics named after S.S.Kutateladze SB RAS, Novosibirsk)
